The Greeks had destroyed Persia, Troy, Egypt, Syria, Phoenicia, Babylon, Bactria… It’s the European Union’s turn.

It’s a joke, so don’t read too much into it. Obviously, when they “destroyed” those other countries/empires, they had, in fact, conquered them. Much different from what’s happening now.
