Food Spending Chart
Here’s a chart with our food expenses, from Jan 2007 to May 2008 (without alcohol). August and September omitted due to a trip in that period.

I must say I stated including alcohol as a food some time ago, I’m pretty sure it’s an important food group.
I have a private chart, with alcohol included. It absolutely is an essential part, but I figured this would be more acceptable to most people.
My readership may very well consist of a lot of Mormons, for example. Just being PC, here. Don’t know why. It’s my blog! Why would I police my own charts? arghhh
Well, if I wanted to significantly flatten the food part of my chart, all I’d have to do is include the alcohol.
Sarcasticynic,
ha! I had to re-read that a few times.
To put all speculation to rest, our expenses on alocohol alone were $844 for the same period. Keep in mind that in Ontario, cheapest bottle of wine on sale costs $7, and I like my XO brandy (comparable med. bottle is $15 in the US, however it’s $28 here).
We’re not eating more or differently than before, and we’re spending something like 25-33% more on food.
